Recently, on the bus home from work, I often come across visually impaired person with a guide dog.
The person always sits right next to the exit door, and the guide dog sits on the floor in front of him. It feels like someone looking away and trying to go further to the back might step on the guide dog’s front paws or tail, but both the passenger and the guide dog ride quietly, as if they all know what to do.
And even though he was sitting on the floor and couldn’t see the scenery, perhaps it was the sensation of the curves or the smell, as we approached the destination, the guide dog suddenly stood up, and as soon as arrived, he urged his master to get off first.
I was impressed that a dog could become so intelligent through training. As for the bus driver, he pulled over to the curb at the disembarkation point, allowing the other passengers a moment to catch their breath before rushing off first… This may be a scene that is repeated every day on this bus, but it was a very worthwhile(?) five minutes for me.
